PM Narendra Modi launches new digital payment system e-RUPI in the country.
e-RUPI is a prepaid e-voucher that will work based on QR Code as well as SMS
PM Narendra Modi on Monday launched the country's first digital payment system -RUPI for cashless and contactless payments. Through video conferencing he lifted the curtain on electronics voucher digital payment solutions and announced it had started. e-RUPI is a type of pre-paid e-voucher that will work based on QR Code as well as SMS. It can be used by mobile users for any type of payment without cash transaction. The system connects service providers to its beneficiaries as well as digitally connects service providers to others without physical contact. For various government schemes since the implementation of this system Beneficiaries will get payment without any hindrance. This will reduce corruption. This will boost digital payments in the country.
Any type of payment can be made by mobile users without making cash transactions.
It has been developed by the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) on its UPI platform. It has been prepared in collaboration with the Department of Financial Services, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as well as the National Health Authority.

While launching e-Rupee Modi said that this e-Rupee voucher would enable digital transactions as well as Direct Benefit Transactions (DBT) in the country. Because of this, everyone in the country will get the benefit of targeted, transparent and leakage fee payment. If a general body or organization wants to help someone for treatment or study or any other work, they can make payment through e-RUPI without making any cash transaction. This will ensure that the amount paid for the work for which the payment has been made will be used. Modi said that e-RUPI is person as well as purpose specific.Initially used for beneficiaries of health centers in the country.
Modi said that e-Rupi is an example of modern use which proves that e-vouchers are being launched as India moves into the 21st century. Has been the beginning. The system will be used for the beneficiaries of the country's health sector during the 7th Independence Day celebrations in the country.
Other features of e-Rupee
●This is a QR code as well as SMS string based e-voucher. Which is sent directly to the beneficiaries' mobiles.
●This is a type of one time payment service in which users can get or pay by redeeming vouchers without a card or digital payment app or without internet banking.
●The amount is paid to the service provider only after the transaction is completed.
●As the system is prepaid, timely payment can be made to the service provider without any intermediary.
● Private companies can pay their employees using e-vouchers for welfare or under corporate social responsibility schemes.
